The “Return to San Carlos Rally offers something for everyone.

    Feb 17 – 19

Participants assemble and dry camp at the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds in Sonita, Arizona. for three packed days of orientation about RV travel in Mexico.  During the orientation, you will be assigned to travel groups and meet your group leader.

With your group, you will travel to Nogales, Mexico, complete travel documents, convert dollars to pesos, and have a trial run of crossing the border into Mexico and back into the United States.

    Feb 20 – March 4

Starting at 6:00 am, the first group of 8 RVs will caravan to San Carlos – Guaymas, followed each hour by another group.

After crossing the border in Nogales, the caravans will travel 5 – 6 hours directly to Guaymas along Route 15, a 4-lane (2 lanes in each direction) well-maintained, relatively flat, paved toll road that bypasses the major towns along the route.   Each group will stop three times at full-service plazas along the route to refuel and take a restroom break. The speed limit for RVs on the toll road is 65 mph.

Upon arrival at the campground (did I mention that it is a direct route with no exits, well-paved roads, and a relatively flat route), you will arrive at your home for the next 13-day Plaza de Cortes Hotel and RV Park along the bay at the sea of Cortez.

The RV Park has full hookups, a large back-in campsite (with room for your toad), Showers and restrooms, area to walk your pets (all pets must be on a leash.  Pets are not permitted in the hotel or on the patio), and 24-hour security is provided.

Rally participants will have full access to the hotel’s facilities, including a cantina that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (open until 11:00 pm) private beach, spectacular views of the bay and of San Carlos (across the bay), and a spacious swimming pool.  Sorry, the pool IS NOT heated.

You will have access to a private dining room (with a fireplace) for use throughout the rally. Open from 7:00 am – midnight food and drinks are available (at cost).

Uber/taxi services from the hotel to the Guaymas business district or San Carlos (12 miles) and back to the RV park.
