While the official rally ends at the San Felipe campground, many people extend their stay in Mexico by finding other locations to visit either alone or with new friends made on the trip. For example, you could travel towards the southern tip of Baja and take your RV on the 15-17 hour ferry from La Paz to the Mexico mainland and visit countless destinations such as:
You could visit Puerto Peñasco, Bahia de los Angeles, Mulege – (Playa Santispac), or head back to California, Nevada or Arizona. Of course, you could return to places the rally visited during the trip down the Baja and stay at your favorite location.
Our recommendation is to use the new forums on our webpage to inquire of others where and for how long they would like to travel and where they have gone before with success. Look for the Post Rally Travel topic in the forums.
If you’ve traveled south of the states of Baja and Sonora before please contribute your suggestions on where to go and what to avoid.
Keep in mind that if you wish to attend the Escapees Escapade at the Pima County Fairgrounds south of Tuscon that runs from March 16 to March 21, 2025 you will need to plan your itinerary carefully to arrive back in Tucson within two weeks in time for the start of the 64th Escapade.
